Maharani 2023 edition

New lightweight collection or when you don't paint with gold.

The Maharani collection was created in 1895, making it the oldest collection in Moser's portfolio. It is one of the most complicated drink sets - the most demanding is the manual engraving of floral motifs and the painting of thin gold lines. However, the collection only got its name in the 1920s, when the glassworks manufactured this set for Maharani Sethu Lakshmi. She was the regent of the Kingdom of Travancore in southern India between the years 1924–1931. The list of the set’s notable admirers also includes Mohammed V., the sultan of Morocco, Asfa Wossem, the Ethiopian prince, Sukarno, the Indonesian president, the royal family of Bahrain, or the Maharaja of Alirajpur. It is one of Moser's best-selling collections.

In collaboration with Studio Moser, we decided to lighten and modernize the look of this collection by not using gold lines as usual, but rather focusing on simplicity.

Although the new and lightweight version of the Maharani collection is free of gold lines and details, it still retains the precise handmade craftsmanship, the highest quality lead-free crystal and the beautiful floral/checkerboard motif of the engraving.

In short, the new and lightweight version of the Maharani collection is a combination of quality, elegance and modernity. If you are looking for the perfect glass for everyday use or want to add something unique to your interior, this collection is the right choice for you. Not only because of its history, Maharani is a modern take for our customers who want to combine traditional engraving, the refinement of glass art and modern taste.
