MOSER GLASSWORKS ARE RETURNING TO LIFE

Today MOSER, a.s. announced a series of steps which are to restore the company’s normal operation, which was disrupted as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

MOSER has adopted a number of safety measures to protect the health of its employees, including a temporary closing of its production facilities.

“The MOSER glassworks have existed for 163 years. It is one of the most important businesses in the Czech glassmaking. We are doing everything we can to endure the current difficult period and to return to as normal functioning as possible in the upcoming weeks,” said the co-owner of the glassworks, Kateřina Zapletalová.

The first step towards gradual recovery will be the opening of the company’s sales gallery in Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) on Monday 27th April 2020. The newly arranged sale exposition in the gallery’s unique historical building will focus primarily on Czech customers, who will be able to browse through examples of MOSER glass collections. The customers will also have the opportunity to take a look at a selection from the new products for 2020. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy a collective sales exhibition of art pieces that have been designed for MOSER by the world-renowned glass artist Jiří Šuhájek over the course of his career. The decision on the opening of other sales galleries will be made in the next few days. The company is going to present the 2020 collection in its entirety in the next few days.

The glassworks facility in Karlovy Vary should also be returning to full operation. The company’s employees are on a company-wide leave until 7th May 2020, after which they should be able to come back to work. Even when the operation of the production plant was limited, the company kept its technologies running (e.g. glass melting furnaces) and its customer service and glassworks security have been working as usual. “We are confident we will be able to reopen our facility and gradually restart production, taking the necessary precautionary measures. The precise schedule will depend on the decrees issued by the government,” comments Kateřina Zapletalová.

The company is looking further ahead as well. On 11th May, the glassmakers will begin designing collections for the second half of this year and for 2021 under strict hygienic conditions.
